During your first visit, Dr. Jessie will explore and discuss your lifestyle, habits, beliefs, and orientation to your body in order to best cater the yoga session to your individual personality and needs. She will then guide you through the Yoga Movement ScreenTM developed in the ShambhaVananda school of yoga and adapted from Gray Cook's FMS. This is an assessment of your functional movements via yoga asanas (postures) in order to determine what limitations your body presents with and how to best address them.
Dr. Jessie can help you learn asanas, pranayama, and meditation practices that address your body's limitations and develop a home practice specifically for you. She will make lifestyle recommendations, and depending upon your needs, may incorporate some manual therapy techniques for optimal results.
This system works best when you schedule at least three to six sessions, preferably one week apart, so that together you and Jessie can address aspects that are challenging and progress you so you can optimize your healing journey.
