Tracy’s book recommendation
This was the very first book I read about Functional Medicine. It showed me how much control and how empowerment each of us has over our state of health. It also showed me that diabetes is reversible! This is just one of the many medical miracles I have discovered during my years as a functional medicine provider. I continue to learn from Dr. Mark Hayman through his books and podcasts. He is such a wellness hero to me. This is the perfect book for anyone because we all know someone with diabetes, metabolic disorder, food issues, or weight struggles.

Dr. Mark Hayman also has a weekly podcast that is highly recommended by our staff.
Gae’s book recommendation
I love this book because it's full of great information: it identifies what Paleo means, its history, and how this approach works in the body. Diane's writing is very accessible, informative, and thorough. Practical Paleo has a huge section that addresses healing the body, how to eat to reverse autoimmune issues, thyroid problems (for example), and specific eating plans for each of these conditions. It has a big section on easy, tasty recipes, which are also adjustable depending on what you need (for example, low FODMAP foods or an eating plan that avoids nightshades). It's a great resource for learning and action. We call it “Big Red” at home—my family has used it so much it that it fell apart and we had to get a new one! It's the perfect go-to book when you’re diving into paleo.

Dr. Jessie’s book recommendation
This book helped to transform how I approach nearly all of my physical therapy sessions with my clients because it changes how we can handle the pain experience. Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is truly paradigm-shifting, and this book serves both as the author's incredible story of finding her true calling and also unveils a remarkable newly-rediscovered treatment that takes advantage of the body's ability to respond to frequencies (measured in hertz) in order to heal a number of chronic conditions. When I gave this book to my dad, he read it cover to cover in three days (and he's not a reader!). It's a page-turner that offers so much inspiration and hope about the future of physical & energy medicine. You won't be disappointed!

Raechel’s book recommendation
This book is an inspiration when it comes to food. Dr. Greger backs up his knowledge with scientific research and makes it easy to understand. How Not to Die was positively eye-opening for me! Dr. Greger has also released another book this month called How Not to Diet. Highly recommended if you are interested in optimal wellness through food choices.
"This book is an inspiration when it comes to food science."
Dr. Marty’s podcast recommendation
My favorite book of the year is a podcast, but don’t worry, if you want to get it as a “stocking stuffer,” you can always upgrade from the free to the subscription version. It is called “The Drive” by Peter Attia, MD. He is a physician interested in optimal lifespan and his podcasts are extended interviews with experts in their fields. My favorite was his interview with Matthew Walker (3 2-hour podcasts about sleep), but other topics have included fish oil, CBD, intermittent fasting, MDMA and psychedelics.
"If you're interested in optimal lifespan, The Drive will deliver."
